How to choose the gasket?
(1) Determine the standard used for the gasket
In general, gaskets use the same standards as flanges. Commonly used standards are: China National Standard (GB), Machinery Industry Standard (JB/T), Chemical Industry Standard (HG), International Standard (ISO), etc.
(2) Determine the nominal diameter and nominal pressure of the gasket
The nominal and nominal pressure of the gasket is the same as the flange. Such as: DN100-PN2.5.
(3) Determine the type of gasket
The type of gasket used is determined based on the nominal pressure and the maximum temperature of the medium. Mainly divided into flexible graphite, polytetrafluoroethylene, rubber, non-asbestos fiber gaskets and spiral gaskets, corrugated pressure washers, oval pads and octagonal mats. As asbestos gaskets are gradually eliminated due to environmental and health reasons, this article is not recommended.
(4) Determine the form of the gasket
The form of the gasket is mainly divided into four categories: non-metallic soft gaskets, spiral gaskets, metal composite gaskets and metal gaskets. The specific gasket form should be selected according to the flange form and with reference to the technical parameters provided by each manufacturer.
(5) Determine the material and model of the gasket
The material of the gasket should be determined according to the temperature, pressure and corrosion performance of the medium, and then the type of the gasket should be determined according to the above. The type of gasket generally consists of six parts: gasket form, material, nominal diameter, nominal pressure, standard number, manufacturer or grade.
